Our Story
The Wax Family Orchards Tradition
August and Johanna Wax planted their first fruit trees in 1920 on Vashon Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle. They grew and sold tart cherries, apples, apricots, peaches, currants and gooseberries, as well as fresh apple juice from their island orchards.
They extended the growing season with fruit preserves, choosing to follow the simple methods of the original American settlers. They used only whole ripe fruit, without adding water or pectin. The result was high-fiber, thick preserves with fresh-cooked flavor. They coined the term "fruit-sweetened" to differentiate their products from
others that used sugar, corn syrup and other sweeteners.
Wax Orchards FRUIT SWEET™ is a blend of natural fruit juice concentrates. It serves as the foundation of our entire product line. The sugars on the nutrition label are not added - they are the natural sugars present in fruit, along with their fiber. That's why you'll find our flavors unusually fresh and intense.
We continue the tradition of being committed to creating delicious, healthy alternatives for people who are just as committed to enjoying "All of the Taste - None of the Sugar™" that are in all of our products.
In Wax Orchards products, you will find nothing but real, pure food: no additives, no chemicals, nothing you can't pronounce. That's what we mean by Clean Label, a term we hope will become as familiar to people who love good food as "fruit-sweetened" has become since we introduced it. We hope you enjoy our products and would love to hear from you.
